Now that I am Saved
I
recently had the impression to share this post. It’s an awakening call to the
Church to remind us of our main objectives.
A
trend I’ve observed in recent times in the Church is that we seem to deviate
from our core values by raising arguments that shift our gaze away from our
goal. Little wonder Paul wrote to Timothyabout these things and mentioned this
nothing less than 3 times in his letters.
1 Timothy 1:3-4
Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees
Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees
1 Tim. 4:7
Don’t waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’
tales, instead train yourself to be godly.
2 Tim 2:16
Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more
godless behaviour
Now that I’m saved, I’ve been
translated in God’s eternal kingdom, what do I do; am I to live my life
normally as I used to, expecting a mighty power to overwhelm me one day and
change everything?
No, there is a lifestyle we need to
cultivate and by the Help of the Lord, I’ve grouped them into two (2) things,
that we’ll need to get done while awaiting ‘the Day’.
1. 1. GROW
We
first must understand that the hallmark of a worthy son of the father is growth.
A Child who remains a child and desires no growth surely isn’t bringing joy
unto God.
The
question then is; How do I grow?
1
Peter 2:2 As new born babes, desire the
sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
We
know that once born again we become like infants, so after realizing who we are
and what we have in Christ the next thing is to grow in them. True growth and
transformation can only come by the Word.
There’s
NO GROWTH outside the Living Word of God. It’s the foundation upon which we
build our lives on.
Men
are heaping unto themselves teachers who tend to alter the foundation of the
Church (God’s Word), so as to please men’s itching ears, but scriptures made it
clear in Psalm 119:89 that Forever, O
Lord, thy Word is settled in Heaven
Paul also wrote
in 1 Corinthians 3:11,
For no one can lay a
foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
So
do away with false teachings, feed on the pure, true and sincere milk of the
world, and continually grow thereby.
2. 2. EVANGELISE
Why
is evangelism so Important?
Simple,
we have been saved with this amazing grace, Christ told us to love our
neighbours, therefore we should reveal this light unto them too.
(Mark
3 14)
He appointed twelve- designating them apostles- that they might be with him and that he might
send them out to preach.
Asides
that we’ve been commanded (not compelled) to do so.
Matthew 28:19:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…
Mark 16:15:
Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Jude
1:23 Snatch others from the fire and save
them…
Although
the power to save isn’t ours to possess, but, how can they call on the one they
have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not
heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them. (Romans 10:14)
Paul in 2 Timothy 2:10 wrote; therefore
I endure everything for the sake of the elect that they may obtain the
salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
We really can’t exhaust the discussion
on these things, but I believe that God will give us more understanding in His
word even as we seek him more.
Let’s live our lives by God’s word,
growing in our revelation knowledge, and therefore shine our light to others.
