Purpose Can Be Pain

Image
During my daily reflection a few days back, I had this thought: sometimes - actually, most times - I believe, walking in purpose means walking through pain, discomfort, or stress. Many times, especially as Christians, when we hear the word Purpose, we imagine a life of ease or comfort. The Perfect Life. However, I’ve come to realize that purpose can sometimes be a burden. Our purpose can be encapsulated in a burden we have been called to carry. Take Joseph in the Bible, for example. Walking in purpose for Joseph meant being thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused by his master’s wife, and eventually imprisoned. While all these might sound like terrible circumstances, because we know the story, we see how every painful experience was perfectly aligned with his purpose. Or look at Jesus. His purpose meant being disgraced, tortured in the worst way possible, and ultimately crucified, the worst kind of death. Yet, even in that pain, His purpose was fulfilled. Purpose can be p...

'You are Worthless?'

Image
Has there ever been a time when you felt worthless, useless and you just felt that no one perceived you as valuable in life? Well, I can assume that everyone of us have had our fair share in that feeling, because I have, many times. But what is God's view about us feeling this way? Let's look into the Scriptures. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece . He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [emplasis added] Do you see that 😄.  You are a masterpiece, not just any masterpiece, you are God's Masterpiece. Let me quickly paint a picture with this. I am a Graphic designer, and in my work, if I have a potential new client who asks me to send in a few of my previous works, what I do (as expected) is that I'll go through my archives, and pick the very best of the best designs I've previously worked on. Those are my Masterpieces. So, imagine God in an Heavenly Council meeting, and perhaps one of the 24 eld...

MUSTARD SEED FAITH

Image
Hello friends, trust you are good. Today I'll be sharing a piece I titled Mustard Seed Faith. And our text is Matthew 17:14-20: 14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” 17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” 20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Noth...

My Reality

Image
Good day, I was inspired to write and confess these recently, so I decided to share. I see walls falling, I see chains breaking, I hear the sound of rain, As of a mighty rushing wind. It's a new dawn, The break of a new day, Light is breaking forth, Unto growth, Unto uplifting, Unto depths, Men see Men know Men grow These are the days of signs, Days of wonders, Days of power, Days of manifestation, Days of the fullness, And in all, I'm in, Son, Beloved, Righteous, Joint heir, Called, Justified, Sanctified I'm a partaker, I walk by faith, Born of the Spirit, With the mind of the Spirit, Led by the Spirit, I'm Christ, I'm a light in the world, I shine, I abound unto good works, I walk in power, I'm born of the most high. This is my reality, And I'm in it, are you?

Now that I am Saved

Image
I recently had the impression to share this post. It’s an awakening call to the Church to remind us of our main objectives. A trend I’ve observed in recent times in the Church is that we seem to deviate from our core values by raising arguments that shift our gaze away from our goal. Little wonder Paul wrote to Timothyabout these things and mentioned this nothing less than 3 times in his letters. 1 Timothy 1:3-4 Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees 1 Tim. 4:7 Don’t waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales, instead train yourself to be godly. 2 Tim 2:16 Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behaviour Now that I’m saved, I’ve been translated in God’s eternal kingdom, what do I do; am I to live my life normally as I used to, expecting a mighty power to overwhelm me one day and change everything? No, there is a lifestyle we need to cultivate and by the Help of the Lord, I’ve gr...

Where did the Fourth 'Man' go?

Image
In my recent study of the Book ‘When God Doesn’t Make Sense’ written by Dr James Dobson, there is this lesson I learnt and would love to share… ‘ Daniel 3:21,25,26   21 Then these [three]men were…cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.  25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.   26 … Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.   In this Biblical story, which I believe we are familiar with, of the three Hebrew friends who refused to bow down to the image of king Nebuchadnezzar, and were in turn punished for it by being thrown into a furnace of fire. The catch is this, 3 of them were thrown into it (vs 21); when the king looked into the fire, four men were seen (vs 25); and when he ordered them to come out, only the three friends did (vs 26). Where’s the fourth man, where did he come ...

What Do You See?

Image
24:…and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it… 29: “ Come, ” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30: But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “ Lord, save me! ” (Matthew chapter14) The above verses were curled out of the Biblical event of Jesus walking on water, which I believe we should be familiar with. Now, let’s check some points there. Vs 24, the winds arose and the disciples steered against it but no one drowned, Vs 29, peter walked on water but didn’t drown, but in Vs 30, peter began to drown. What went wrong? Vs 30, Peter saw the wind… Many-a-times, we, as children of God face different trials but that really isn’t a problem because while Jesus was here on earth, He promised us that; … In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) ...

United We Stand

Image
In our study of Scripture, have we ever noticed one word that seems paramount in the heart of God, it can be found in verses which reveals unto us God's eternal plan; ".. .to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ." - Eph 1:10 ":until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God..." - Eph. 4:13  Yes…. It’s Unity God doesn't just desire to build a church in the name of a church, but a united church; in fact a gathering of un-united hearts cannot stand. "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." - Ecc. 4:12 It is the heart cry of God to the church today that we be united, because without it, there won't be progress. Also checking through scriptures, we see how much God respects the power of unity "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" - Matt. 1...

Buy Time For Free

Image
Ever complained that time is gone, or that you have lost time? And we complain even more because it can’t be called back, as time is something that has been placed above the control of man. But for as many brethren who are in Christ and might have ‘lost time’ at a point or the other, there is some cheering news for you. Here is what the Word of the Lord says; And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.(Joel 2:25) For the man in Christ, he serves a God who is above time, who existed long before time (2 Timothy 1:9, John 8:58), who exists outside time (2 Peter 3:8), in fact, He created time itself (John 1:3). As part of the character of our God is His mercy (Ephesians 2:4), and He’s so willing to make us partakers of His fullness, if only we go to Him in sincere prayers. (Hebrews 4:16, Jeremiah 29:13, Matt. 7:7). So are we willing to go before our ...

Praying or Talking?

Image
Therefore I say unto you, whatsoever you desire, when you pray , believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. (Mark 11:24, emphasis added ) Ever wondered why on many occasions, we don’t experience what the above verse says? It kept me wondering, when we close our eyes in prayer, do we really pray or we just have a call-and-response session with the prayer leader, because many-a-times we are accustomed to the regular response of ‘Amen’ after a statement has been made, but this shouldn’t be.  How then do we differentiate prayer from a mere communication, Praying isn’t merely talking instead it should be a connection of hearts, an alignment of wills between the sender and the receiver, or better put communion . OK, the word communion has a Greek root which is Koinonia , and this can be translated into 7 English words; Presence, fellowship, sharing together, participation with, intimacy, friendship and communion. We see that praying is much more than...

The Substance of your Faith

Image
Ever wondered why, at times, you ask for things from God with faith in your heart, and yet it seems like God doesn’t move to answer, or other times when you receive - with great enthusiasm and expectation - God’s promises and they don’t seem forthcoming. It makes you wonder, could the problem be from God? Definitely not! What about you at the receiving end? It seems to you that you have set yourself ready enough to receive God’s blessings… but I say that after believing God’s word in your heart, something else should be done… Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  -  Heb. 11:1 (emphasis added) Now note the word ‘substance’. Yes, we have faith in our heart, but scriptures tell us that the ‘proof of our faith’ should be a substance in our hands. Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. - James 2:17 So many Biblical illustrations can explain this. - Jesus Christ, our great example showed this in ...

'Gospel Song of the Year'

Image
Good Day Friends trust you are doing good? Was just checking through the list of nominations during an awards ceremony recently, I came across this category that startled me a bit and somewhat made me laugh, ‘Gospel Song of the Year’. This though wasn’t my first time of seeing this, but it rather jumped out of the page this particular time. Then the question popped up in me that what exactly qualifies a song to win this award? Now, the Life of a Christian should be one of worship, and one way through which a man can be led into worship is through songs, it’s a tool given to man by God to serve as a channel leading us into worship and filling the thought of man with that of God. Knowing this, is it now that the recipient of the award is that song that leads men into worship faster or the one that gets us into a deeper realm of worship? I don’t just get it.  "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and ...

The Perfect Christmas Gift

Image
Christmas 2015 is here! Glory be to God. One very pronounced mark of Christmas is celebrations! Celebrations!! Celebrations!!! But I would love to say, much more than the celebration, Christmas is about 3 important things. To get these three things, lets look into the Bible. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, emphasis added) Three things were highlighted in the above passage; love, giving, and salvation. These things should be our focus every Christmas. Adding them together, I can form a sentence that defines Christmas;  Christmas is a season of salvation, achieved through giving that is born out of love. Now, we have a word established, the next issue is putting it to practice. Recently, I came across this wonderful quote from Dr. Myles Munroe; “Love is not [just] in giving gifts, but in being a gift” That’s it! That best Christmas gift is Y...

‘THE ESSENCE OF THE PARTY’

Image
Hello friends, trust you are doing good. Already we are in the Christmas season and safely, I can say that the ‘Christmas fever’ has caught us all. But briefly I’d like to share a short story with us, though a sad one but I believe we’ll get the message.  Its about a family who, after trusting God for a child for some time, finally got one and when the day of the naming ceremony came, I trust we know how colourful and ‘loaded’ it was going to be, the mother of the child was like the happiest person on earth that day moving from chair to chair, room to room, person to person, just greeting everyone who turned up, as the gust were arriving, she was welcoming them with a bright smile on her face and expressed total joy and happiness that day. the Father of the child also couldn’t hide his joy as he just felt like he was above the world at that time and was over-joyous. Then a guest arrived, who just went over to meet the mother of the child, asking to see the baby. so, the moth...

In Readiness to Recieve

Image
In the book of Genesis 1:2-3, the Bible says “and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light; and there was light” Now, the thought on it is this. This verses talks about the creation of the earth, but there was a problem or let me say problems. First, I believe we know that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5), and if God is light, could He have created a dark earth (vs. 2)? Definitely not! But due to a reason the earth became dark due to the fact that the devil had cast himself on earth (see Revelations 12).  Now the problems (1) The earth was without form and was void  (2) The earth was dark. From our Biblical knowledge, we know that even darkness is like light to God (Ps 139:12) so it is like the issue of darkness wasn’t actually a problem to God, so He had just the problem of the earth being formless to fix. But...

A Life Of Praise

Image
Good day fellow believers, today's post is going to be on a life that praises God. "Praise is something we do when we don't know what to do" - Bishop David Abioye The Bible recorded of Paul and Silas that after they prayed and it was like God wasn't answering, they began to sing and then a miracle happened. When we pray, angels come down to minister unto us (Heb. 1:14), just like the case of Daniel (in Daniel 10), but whenever we praise, God himself attends to our praises because as the psalmist recorded, 'God inhabits the praises of His people'. Angels can operate in an atmosphere of prayer but an atmosphere if praises is God's dwelling place. So, safely we can say that a life that praises God is a life that carries God, and when we carry God on our inside, we experience great and mighty things. One thing is that praises is not all about songs, though its a part of it, but praise is a thing of the heart, a heart that constantly worship God. Then y...

The 4th Dimension

Image
J esus told them that "destroy this temple and in 3 days I will rebuild it", the pharisees could NEVER have understood this statement simply because they weren't seeing from Jesus' perspective. Right from arts in our elementary school days, we learnt about 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawings, and I believe we know that naturally men see in three dimensions (length, width, height/depth). But today I'll like to reveal unto us the fourth dimension which is the dimension I believe every christian should operate in... In taking decisions, after seeing the HEIGHT of it, seeing the DEPTH, and the WIDTH, God expects us to see through the SPIRIT. The Spiritual dimension being the 4th dimension we are expected to operate in. We must all see from God's view before taking any step, and this can only happen when we've subjected our spirit to the things of God, then by doing this we can upgrade from being a 3-d person to a 4-d, and we can be sure our steps would...

Hey There! You're Beautiful

BOY:Hey,....just wanted to tell you that you're beautiful GIRL: *blushes* like she's never known before. You don't have to wait until someone tells you that you're beautiful before you believe it, because one of the most dangerous tools the enemy can use is when he knows you before you know yourself. A part in Rev. 5:6 says "...He (the Lamb) had...seven eyes...". Reading this something comes across my mind; the Lamb (Jesus) has seven eyes. In today's world, we talk of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional views, it strikes me that having seven eyes means that the lamb sees through 7-dimensions and as we know, 7 is signifies perfection therefore when God sees me, He sees perfection (Gen 1:31). The baseline of this write-up is that you are made perfectly, so don't let anyone ever say it be an admirer that would tell you first that would get you excited, the Bible has told you, so believe it. So never get discouraged when someone seeing through 3-dimension...

The 'Selfie' Generation

Image
In the world of today, one of the trends in the trending words is 'selfie'. The word, according to the Oxford British and World English Dictionary,  defines as 'A photograph that one has taken of oneself'. Now I don't know if anyone else has noticed that no matter how hard you try, one just cant snap a perfect selfie; its either at one point you didn't smile enough and when you try to adjust your smile and you take another picture, the background won't be good enough and so on. so many reasons why our selfies just cant be perfect. So exactly it is with life, many a times we try to take a picture of the world, but we put ourselves only in the picture leaving behind the original centerpiece, that is God. Anyone who tries to see the world from just his/her own point of view will definitely be discouraged and would NEVER see the perfection in the world that God saw in Gen. 1:31, but seeing through the eyes of God, we'll see nothing but perfection because al...
